Friday April 18

Women’s Softball

The Scarlet Raiders lost a doubleheader to Rowan University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup on Alumni Field. In the opener, senior pitcher Brianna Alicchio held Rowan to seven hits without a strikeout or walk. In game two, Rowan stacked up five runs in the first two innings on eight hits. Game scores were 2-1 and 13-3 respectively.

Men’s Baseball

Rutgers-Newark mens baseball team lost to Ramapo College in an NJAC game on Jeff Maund Field. Junior pitcher Andrew Nasti gave up six singles, two walks, and one strikeout. Sophomore Ryan Mcfarlane had the Scarlet Raiders only run in the sixth inning. The loss placed the Raiders a game out of sixth place in the NJAC with six games remaining.

Men’s Volleyball

Rutgers-Newark played their last Division-I game in a loss to Penn State University 3-0 in the Golden Dome. It was senior night for middle hitter Brett Pickens who had eight blocks in his final match. Rutgers-Newark will now compete in the  Division-III Continental Volleyball Conference.

Men’s Track and Field

Junior sprinter Dennis Willis Jr. broke the Rutgers-Newark record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 at the CTC Outdoor Championships in G. Larry James Stadium at Richard Stockton College. Willis secured a spot in the ECAC Outdoor Championships. RUN finished sixth out of fifteen teams.

Women’s Track and Field

Sophomore Dominque Roberts clocked a time of 2.23.57 to finish first out of twenty four. LaSha Johnson, Kimoy Connell, Jazmyn Williams, and Danielle Parker set a school record of 49.79 in 4×100 relay.

Saturday April 19

Men’s Baseball

The Scarlet Raiders men’s baseball team swept Richard Stockton in a NJAC doubleheader. In game one sophomore Chris Nichols pitched a shutout ion the seventh inning. In game two Rafael Totesautt gave up just one run, six hits, four walks, and three strikeouts.

Men’s Tennis

Rutgers-Newark’s men’s tennis team captured a spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament with a 9-0 win over Albertus Magnus on Celentano Courts.
