Women’s Track and Field

Freshman sprinter Kimoy Connell posted two tenth place finishes along with personal best in Rutgers-Newark showing in the New Jersey Invitational in Ewing, NJ. Connell earned a time of 13.22 in the 100-meter dash and 26.68 in the 200-meter dash. Danielle Parker ran a personal best of 59.03 in the 400-meter dash to finish eight in a field of thirty-four. Mercedes Glover placed third in a field of thirty-three in the javelin, while Samantha Renfree topped her personal best 0.1 with a distance of 38.52 meters to place sixth.

Men’s Track and Field

Donnie House placed had two of Rutgers-Newark’s six individual top ten finishes at the New Jersey Invitational at the TCNJ track in Ewing. House places second in a field of twenty seven in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.63, and a personal best of 15.79 in the 110-meter hurdles to place ninth in a field of twenty-seven. Chris Connors broke his old school record in the shot put with a distance of 14.40 meters.

Women’s Softball

Rutgers-Newark women’s softball team split a New Jersey Athletic conference doubleheader at New Jersey City University at the Gerrity Athletic Complex. Rutgers bounced back from the 3-0 loss in the opener to a victory 11-3 in six innings. In game two, Krista Casale drove in four runs with bases-loaded along with a two run single in the fifth and a RBI single in the sixth to catapult the Scarlet Raiders to the win.

Men’s Baseball

The men’s baseball team of Rutgers-Newark fell to No.13 Rowan University in the NJAC doubleheader. Box scores were 10-6 and 23-7 at Rowan Baseball Field. In game one, RU-N battled back from a 10-0 hole with sixth runs in the last two innings. In game two the Scarlet Raiders had fourteen hits but Rowan responded with twenty-two.

Men’s Volleyball

Rutgers-Newark men’s volleyball team fought Harvard in a 3-1 loss with box scores 21-25,25-22,27-25 and 25-15. Freshman Jose Mendez had seventeen kills, three assisted blocks along with Travis Mintzer’s fourteen kills, eight digs, three blocking assists and an ace.

Men’s Tennis

Derence Tejero posted a lone win in the Scarlet Raiders 8-1 loss at Ramapo College. Junior Miles Murphy on the No. 3 singles court posted scores of 7-6, 7-4, 7-6, and 7-3. Senior Raymond Postadan snapped his sixth game-winning streak; RU-N’s record now stands at 3-5.
